The one in the tie dye is across the street from what was the Commodore Hotel where Allegheny student teachers stayed and classes were taught. I was on my way to the Hessler Street Fair.
After leaving Allegheny College, I was an educator for 46 years, then retired in 2012, but still have involvements. I spent one year in Cleveland Public Schools as an English teacher, then transferred to Warrensville Heights High School. I was a School Counselor and Psychology teacher for two years. With the needs of the time, I developed a course called Human Interaction and returned to the classroom to teach the course along with Drama and Psychology. After five years, I returned to the counseling office for another six years. In 1980, I transferred to Chagrin Falls High School to be a school counselor and senior class advisor. I was there for 32 years and continue to line judge for girls volleyball and administer Advanced Placement tests. In both Warrensville Heights and Chagrin Falls, I was active in the Education Associations and served as president of both groups.
In 1975, I married Patricia Wintucky who graduated from Cleveland Heights High School and Bowling Green State University. We met at Warrensville Heights High School where she was a Special Education teacher. We have two sons, Sigfrid in Austin, Texas, and Hans in University Heights, Ohio. Sig is an assistant news director for KEYE, and Hans is a second grade teacher at University School. He is also the varsity lacrosse coach.
Each son has a son who are two months apart. Fritz and August are our grandsons. This year, Augie and I spend Mondays and Tuesdays together. Pat is still working as a naturalist for Summit Metro Parks. She joins us sometimes.
Along the way, I was involved in a church choir and church council, a dinner theater on stage, the Little Wind String Band, the Hobo community, our sons’ s lacrosse careers which continue, the Chagrin Falls school community, and many returns to my hometown area of Ridgway, Pennsylvania. Highlights are the Chainsaw Carvers Rendezvous, Taste in the Wilds, and, of course, Punxsutawney Phil. I was there for the Philenium of 02/02/02.
I did further my education after Allegheny’s Masters in Education. I competed an Encounter Institute with Carl Rogers at the University of Califormia: LaJolla, in the summer of 1970, and a Counseling Program at Harvard University in the summer of 1981. Other coursework was completed at local state universities.
Life has been good.

Probably the spring of '72 or '73. Pat and I were both working at Warrensville Heights High School in Ohio, and it was a Sadie Hawkins Day at school. We were dressed appropriately. We used the fire hydrant behind the school for the picture.
