Alumni 50th Reunion Central

Allegheny Class of '66

Hurricane Hermine had its impact on several classmates who live on Skidaway Island near Savannah Georgia.

September 2016, Kenna Quine Kinsey: This is our cleanup pile from Hermine! We got most of it, but still see more. The north end of our island had a tornado, lots of trees down but no injuries. We're on the south end and didn't lose any trees, though two of our neighbors did.

Toni Swain Marwitz also reported much clean-up required at her place... perhaps more than Kenna - is this a competition - where's the photo?

After reconnecting in person or electronically as a result of our 50th reunion, many will stay in touch!    Tell us all about your get-togethers and special events in your life.   Send stories, photos and updates to AlleghenyClassof66@gmail.com

Don Zuris had his dancing shoes along when he traveled to a museum conference in Detroit, Michigan recently.  It was a thrill of a lifetime for Don as he was able to dance with the lead singer of the Motown group, Martha Reeves of the Vandellas and talk to and buy a drink for Mary Wilson, the vocalist, best known as a founding member of the Supremes.

Susi Kinsloe-Byers and husband Bill meet up with Gil Gray in Macon Georgia in September: At Allegheny Gil Gray and I didn't know each other well at all. We became friends on FaceBook and kept in touch that way and through our class reunion pages. Both of us signed up to go to the reunion, but neither of us made it. He encouraged us to visit on our trip home from out west and hook up our RV at his son Christian's farm.  So we did.

After a fairly full day of driving and a flat tire later, our truck and camper rounded the bend to the farm and we found ourselves with a welcoming committee of assorted dogs and over in the pasture by the pond a friendly butterscotch horse, two zebus, and a pot- bellied pig. And, of course, there was Gill, who had met us along the way.

This is a farm in name only. To be sure, there are a lot of critters there, including horses. Outside the home is where Bam Bam, the capuchin monkey lives.  Other  residents of the farm include ZIggy, the zebra, and Nubby, the raccoon.

Thank you, Gil, you were a most amazing and wonderful host and tour guide! So delighted to be connected again. See you at the 55th!!

October 2016: Anne DeLaCroix, Suzy Spence Miller, and Gil Gray meet up for lunch in Florida

We are sorry to send the sad news that Janis Elliott Morrison passed away recently after suffering a ruptured aneurysm.  She had been in critical condition in the hospital, but despite her brave fight, the doctors were unable to save her.  So many classmates have wonderful memories of Janis, both at Allegheny and throughout the years.  There was a memorial service in Mountain Rest, SC, on October 8th, 2016.

Staying in Touch.....

September 2016, Norma Blouch:  At the Museum at Bethel Woods with Barbara Sindberg Uhr, and her husband, Bill...reliving the 60's and Woodstock. We were all thankful that we weren't 3 of the 400,000 on the Woodstock Festival Field in 1969 even though it is remembered in the Museum and probably by the attendees as 3 days of Peace, Love & Music!
